About Us

Vision

Faith in Public Life envisions a country in which diverse religious voices for justice and the common good consistently impact public policy; and those who use religion as a tool of division and exclusion do not dominate public discourse.

Mission

Faith in Public Life strengthens the effectiveness, collaboration, and reach of faith movements that share a call to pursue justice and the common good. Faith in Public Life is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Capacity

Faith in Public Life provides organizing and communications resources to diverse faith leaders and organizations, including:

    Organizing

  • Strategic Partnerships. Facilitation of networking opportunities among diverse faith groups to forge partnerships and build non-conventional alliances both nationally and locally.
  • State and Local Coordination. Strategic planning with state and local faith leaders to increase organizational impact as a unified voice in public debate.
  • Coordinated Communication. Regular conference calls and email listservs to expand faith leaders’ capacity to build relationships, increase awareness of initiatives, and improve message coordination.
  • Online Database. A searchable United States map of faith organizations categorized by religious affiliation, policy specialization, and location to enable faith leaders and organizations at the national, state and local level to connect and collaborate.

    Communications

  • Media Infrastructure. A comprehensive menu of tools and services, including media training; message development; press event planning; interview booking and pitching; press-list creation, and briefing material compilation to expand the communications capacity of faith leaders and organizations.
  • Voicing Faith Media Bureau. Diverse national and state clergy, organization leaders, academics, activists and bloggers with expertise in a wide range of issues are available to the media for comment and interviews to level coverage of issues related to faith.
  • Faith Movement Tracking Data. Informational resources underscoring America’s strong and growing faith movements for justice and the common good to bolster an ongoing campaign to increase media coverage of movement leaders and campaigns.
  • Media Monitoring. Ongoing review of media coverage on issues related to faith, including periodic qualitative and quantitative analysis, to hold the press accountable for imbalanced coverage.

As Faith in Public Life grows, so, too will resources for America’s faith leaders.
