"The Time Is Now"
The faith community has been working tirelessly for months to ensure that Congress passes health care reform legislation that puts affordable, quality health insurance within reach for all American families. On Tuesday, October 20th, faith leaders gathered on Capitol Hill for a prayer rally and press conference to keep this momentum going strong and to push for necessary fixes to the Senate Finance Committee bill, which still requires families to spend too much on healthcare that covers too little. Clergy and lay leaders from across the country joined their voices to call on Congress to make health care affordable and accessible to all families.
People of faith also gathered for an Interfaith Service of Remembrance and Hope, sharing stories of those who fell through the cracks of our broken health care system. The events in Washington, D.C. today are part of a broader nationwide faith-based day of action, pushing for health care reform.
